My name is Thomas Jaggers. I was born and grew up in England, but have always felt myself to be a member of the whole human race, and beyond that a small part of life on this planet Earth, rather than of this nation or that nation.
I first began my study of qigong, taijijuan, and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the U.K. in 1995, with a teacher named Mike Craske. I studied with Mike from 1995 until early 1997, and then again in 1998. In 1997 I lived for one year in Japan where I studied taijijuan briefly with a teacher whose name I do not recall. From 1999 to 2001, again back in the U.K. I studied taijijuan in the Rising Dragon School, founded by Richard Farmer.
In 1996 I met Michael Barnett, a spiritual teacher and energy master, and subsequently lived in his communities in France and Switzerland, and helped run and organize his groups throughout Europe.
In 2004 I moved to Santa Fe, NM, and essentially paused my studies of qigong, taijijuan and Traditional Chinese Medicine until I met Zhenevere in spring 2012. I studied with her continuously until the MogaDao Institute ceased to exist in 2021. I gained my first certification from the MogaDao Institute in 2014 and have been teaching ever since then. In 2020 I was named a Daoshen (meaning lineage carrier) of the MogaDao tradition.
Upon the dissolution of the MogaDao Institute in fall 2021, I very carefully examined and reflected upon my experiences studying with Zhenevere and the impact the practices and philosophy have had upon my life. I acknowledge and have written about the mistakes made by Zhenevere as a teacher and by the Institute as a formal organization (of which I was a staff member from 2013 to 2020), but all of these mistakes were, in my opinion, minor (especially compared to some of the wilder allegations made against Zhenevere) and do not diminish the value of what I have learned. As such I made the decision to continue to practice and to teach in the hope that the practices, theories and philosophies may be of help and value to others, as they have been to me.
In 2016 I co-founded Embodying The True Masculine with my dear friend and colleague, Patrick Anderson, in the belief that a deeper understanding of what true masculinity is, and how to embrace it and embody it, is vital for our species and our planet. We offer workshops for men throughout the U.S.A. and in Europe. Please contact me directly for more information about that work.
